A blog for bookkeepers by a bookkeeper who burned the f out and doesn't want you to do the same. HELPING YOU Build a sustainable business from the beginning.
December 17, 2025
Marketing brings one word to mind in 2025 – TikTok and Instagram. But sometimes it feels like this is the only way to get more clients for your bookkeeping business. I’m here to tell you that you don’t even need a social media account to be successful. Here are some alternatives.
Do not underestimate the sheer volume of podcasts out there right now. It seems like everyone and their mother has hopped on the podcast train and they’re doing really well! People love to listen while they drive, workout or do chores around the house. Reach out to a few that are aligned with your bookkeeping business pitch yourself!
Getting on a few up and coming podcasts with listeners who are aligned with your ideal client avatar is amazing marketing for bookkeepers. Think about it β the podcaster has already established trust with their audience and you get to show your personality and expertise.
Make sure the podcast host links to either your freebie or your website in the show notes.
Similar to the podcast, email lists are a fantastic way to market your freelance bookkeeping services. Reach out to friends with established email lists and ask them if they’re featuring any freebies to their audience. This is when a simple lead magnet goes a long way.
Make sure that there’s an opt-in to your freebie so that you can capture that person’s email on YOUR list. I love using Convertkit for this – they have a free plan that gets the job done.
If you have the bandwith, Youtube is a great resource for attracting new clients. Think about the last time you wanted to learn about something new. Changes are you ventured to YouTube University for the answer. I love YouTube for sharing your knowledge as a bookkeeper, educating on what YOU think is important.
You can share your freebie in the description box to get people on your email list AND if your channel gets big enough you can monetize for a second income stream. Win/win.
I mean you’re proving my point just by reading this. Long-form content is making it’s comeback and now’s the time to get on the bandwagon. Blogs are low-commitment because usually one-two per month is enough to keep you relevant. You can share tips for business owners, hot takes or information for other bookkeepers like this blog does. Make it yours and add in your personality. No matter who you’re writing for, your potential clients will learn your tone and your vibe through your posts. Don’t discount the power of this! Bonus points: you get to link to whatever you want, including affiliate links, your services and your other marketing channels.
For more visibility find a friend who has a blog and collaborate – featuring each other not only benefits you, but your audience as well.
This one’s not so obvious but if you’re doing all the stuff listed above, then get yourself on Pinterest for more exposure! I don’t know about you, but I love scrolling Pinterest for inspiration and every now and then, I find some useful business articles that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. Talk to a Pinterest specialist to get a strategy that works for you. I love Amy from Amytime. She’s the real GOAT.
If you do want to explore social media for marketing your bookkeeping business, you’ll like this post. And if you want to start with a website for your business, but don’t know how and don’t have the budget to have someone do it for your right now – I’ve got you covered.
